Default gerunds again

1-I liked their singing of popular folk songs.

Does this mean:
a-I liked the fact that they sang popular folk songs
or:
b-I liked the way they sang popular folk songs.

(I know I have asked a similar question before, but as usual I have got myself confused.)

It could mean both- if they were a classical choir, I might go for a, and if the were a folk group, b).
