Hi All,
I am not sure whether the following sentence, I found in a newspaper, is correct. Can you please suggest improvements? if any.
'But saying it and proving it are another matter.'

I can paraphrase for you:
But to say that something is true is a different matter from proving it to be true. |

I don't know what it said before in this article. But saying it and proving it at the same time could be "another matter" opposed to simply saying something and claiming it is the truth without proving it. |

'The loss could have been avoided. Elsa places the blame on the seller's real estate agent for giving bad advice. She claims the women held out the false hope that someone with her low income and poor credit rating would qualify for a loan.
But saying it and proving it are another matter. Even if Elsa could persuade a judge the agent was overly optimistic about her chances, Toronto real estate lawyer Bob Aaron doubts it would get Elsa far.' |

I think there is an error in the writing (which the editor should have caught):
"But saying it [is one thing] and proving it is another" is the usual way of saying this.
