Q1: Why did the father suggested planting the watermelon seeds under a huge oak tree?

A: This was because he could sit with his back against the tree, reading comic books as the watermelons (grow or grew???)

With the word "grow", should it be in past tense form or keep it as present?


Q2: They asked her not to write (in or on???) books.
