Question Do You Think This Sentece Is Correct?

I made a speech on how to combine experience and innovation to successfully compete in national and international markets.

The adverbial phrase is ambiguous here:

Ex: I made/gave/delivered a speech on how to combine experience and innovation (in order) to successfully compete in national and international markets.

    Meaning 1
I made a speech ... (in order) to successfully compete in national and international markets.

    Meaning 2
... how to combine experience and innovation (in order) to successfully compete in national and international markets.

    Why wouldn't they?

    i. the poster will undoubtedly ask why you think others would disagree, and
ii. vague statements don't help; they cost the members of the discussion time and effort. If you feel a sentence is potentially ungrammatical, then you should provide evidence/examples so that the poster gains a clearer understanding of the problem or question posted. Otherwise, just give what you actually do know about the topic.

    Google:

    Giving a speech-
    545,000

    Make a speech- 462,000
    Made a speech-

    Making a speech-

    Deliver a speech-

    Delivering a speech-

    BNC:
    Give a speech- 9
    Make a speech- 37
    Deliver a speech 3

Given that 'deliver a speech' comes bottom in both a major corpus and the largest online collection of data available, what exactly is this tendency you have observed based on?

It is a useful indication of whether words or phrases are used. However, the way that Google works means that you must be careful not to take the number of hits as an absolute guarantee of accuracy.

One thing is certain - if you do not use English words properly spelled, you will fail to find anything.

Try this site: [DAVIES/BYU] British National Corpus It is designed for this sort of searching, and has many grammatical and lexical features.
