use of the term 'technological advance'

Hi there,

I came across this sentence:
"...except in a few cases, their suggestions did not yield significant results in terms of technological advance."

Shouldn't it be "... technological advancement."?

You could use 'advancement' or 'advances' there for me, but the singular does sound a bit odd.
