    Default compiled/ composed

I have seen in the preface of some books that, "This book is compiled by Mr. Bob". Similarly, in some other books, "This book is composed by Mr. ****".

I, wonder, whether the "compiled" and "composed" have a same meaning. I have looked up these words in a dictionary but I can't really come out with solutions.

    Please help me.

    Default Re: compiled/ composed

Compiled- this would mean that the person didn't write the pieces in the book, but collected and chose them.
Composed- sounds odd to me as I would say 'written', but the idea is the same.
