What is Chandler trying to say with the red line? I didn't find the word "mento" in my dictionry.

Background: Ross just gets dupmed by his lesbian wife and feels very upset. Joey tells him to "grab a spoon" and enjoy every flavor of ice cream, which I think he means "to date with all kinds of girl".

Then, after a while, Ross says this:

Ross: (scornful) Grab a spoon. Do you know how long it's been since I've grabbed a spoon? Do the words 'Billy, don't be a hero' mean anything to you?

What's the "billy, don't be a hero" stuff all about? I understand that it's part from a lyric, where a girl begs her fiancee to take good care of himself and come back safe from the battle...
