I would like that....
First off, I would like to thank Mike (New York) and TDOL for their help a couple of weeks. I did not wish to be ungrateful and impolite, but unfortunately have been unable to log in to thank them despite several attempts - I am unfortunately rather computer challenged! So, thank you, Mike and TDOL - you helped solve my problem.
Now perhaps you or others could help with this question: Is "I would like that you do this" ( instead of: "I would like you to do this") simply awkward or actually incorrect? I think it's not right but will welcome all your comments.
Thanks in advance in case I still can't log in later!

Many British speakers would call it an error. I've heard it used by native speakers and believe it is more used by Americans. I'd say it is awkward.

I agree with tdol in that it's awkward. Moreover, "I would like that you do this" is odd, even for North American English speakers. Try,
1. I would like it if you would do this.
2. I would like it if you did this.
All the best,

All the best,
What about: I would like you/your doing this. :) Still clumsy in N.A.E.?
All the best, too.

For me, that could only be used under special circumstances:
I would like your leaving to be quiet. (I know you're leaving and am adding quietness to it)
Even then, it's a bit clumsy, imo.

As for "I would like you doing this", it doesn't work. 'doing', a participle, expresses an actualized event, whereas 'would like' expresses a conditional/future expectation. The two are at odds semantically.
As for "I would like your doing this", it'd work of you added a to-infintive as tdol has:
"I would like your leaving to be quiet."
"your leaving" functions as a gerund, a noun. It's the object of "like".
All the best,

Hmm...
But, Thanks a lot. :)
