Default Need help immediately. Does this sentence make sense? Please

For this interview, I have chosen my mother because she is responsible for making important decisions in my family.

Does this sentence make sense? And is there anything I should change? Any grammar mistake? this sentence is part of this paragraph:
On May 16th, 2001, Gordon Campbell became British Columbia’s first Liberal premier in over half a century. He was elected by many people because of his promises to improve our province. However, Mr Campbell has often made the wrong decision on numerous issues that have affected a diverse group of individuals. For this interview, I have chosen my mother because she is responsible for making important decisions in my family.

I'm afraid that I have to agree with my colleague TDOL. Are we missing the bigger picture? :?

Thanx for your input! But the whole picture is, this is for my political science paper! I'm suppose to do interview someone and write a report based on it! And my teacher wanted us to first identify what we are going to talk about and who we chose to interview and why. And then go on to write about what we discussed!

In that case, you should spearate it into paragraphs and define the interview.
