Default hop = jump on one foot

    hop
    verb -pp-
1 [I] to jump on one foot or to move about in this way:

I wonder how one can jump on one foot. I can get my one leg up and then down. Is this a hop?

You bend a leg at the knee. You are now standing on one [the other] leg.

    Now jump forward.

    This is hopping.

However, an bird or animal hopping is moving forward in small jumps on two or four feet.

    Thank you Anglika.
Suppose if a person has only one leg and if he tries to walk with the leg without any support, that pace will be like a "hop". Am I right?
