Arrow hee-hawed ... comfort station

Princesses always hee-hawed at me and even fellows did in the open comfort station.

What's the meaning of hee-hawed? What's the meaning of comfort station? How should I understand the sentence?

A "comfort station" is a polite way of saying a public bathroom or toilet. "Hee haw" is usually used to describe the sound a donkey makes, but sometimes it can refer to someone laughing heartily. So perhaps the person in your quote had people laughing at him when he used the toilet for some reason.

It's nice to know that.

Do you ever use "comfort room" to refer to the toilet? I hear that used so often here in my country.

In the US we have many, many euphemisms for the "toilet." (In fact, calling it the toilet is considered just a little bit crude in the US.) We'll refer to it as the powder room, the restroom, the ladies room, the mens room, the bathroom, or the comfort station. When excusing ourselves from a group in order to use the toilet, we might say, "I have to powder my nose" or "I have to make a quick pit stop."

But you never refer to it as "comfort room", do you?
