    Default inversion

---- was his determination to succeed that he paid little attention to those around him.

    a) Such
    b) So much
    c) So
    d) Quite

I'm for the option "b", but is the option "a" also possible?

    I`d choose [a].
The adjective such is often followed by that when such is used to mean "of a degree or quality indicated", or

So determined was John to succeed that he paid little attention to those around him.
