The continuing search for drugs to combat viral infections presents medicine with one of its greatest challenges in the twenty-first century.


After I saw this sentence, I think that when infection is caused by virus, we say viral infection. So now I wonder if an infection is caused by a bacterium, what do we say? Do we say as "bacterial infection"?
