    We often use things like 'well...' to attract attention before we start saying what we want.

    Say, two people are talking inside a room. As you entered they are in some serious talk and you heard something and would like to give your opinion on what you heard. What would you say before giving your opinion/ join in the conversation?

    I would say "Hi, excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt you, but were you talking about the...?" , and then I would say my opnion.
