Repetition of "one of the..."

First of all, is this repetition of "one of" clumsy? If so, how could the sentence be rewritten to avoid it without altering the meaning?

I think you can rewrite it like this:

Among modern strategies to cope with missing data, one of major problems faced by statisticians, imputation is the most often used one."

Note, however, that you altered the meaning. There is a huge (well, maybe not huge, but still big) difference between "one of the most often used" and "most often used". As I wrote, I don't want to alter the meaning of the original sentence.

From CALD: "major: more important, bigger or more serious than others of the same type". If so, "one of the major problems" does carry a different meaning from that of "a major problem", doesn't it?
