Dear all,
I have one query.
I want to go.
We have used infinitive in this sentence because verb want takes infinitive.
But if we say
I want you to complete this work.
In this case I want to know :
can we say that "to complete" is an object of "want" or is it a object of "you".
It relates to "you" - the person who is to complete the work.
As object of "want" > "I want to complete the work" - it means "I" is the person to do it.
The verb 'want' normally takes the infinitive.
If you yourself want to do something, you simply say:
I want to go.
I want to visit New York. etc.
If you don't want to do something by yourself, you need to use an object with the infinitive:
I want you to go.
I want my parents to visit New York. etc.
