| 2.The watch was not nearly as good as it was. (it refers to the watch) Is the 2nd sentence right? Someone says that The watch was not nearly as good as it was. equals to The watch was not nearly as good as it was good. Is he right? If right, can the second "good" be omitted? |

| In my opinion, the second one means it is not as good as before. The first one means because it was old that's why it was not |
