I hope you will help me with the following expressions in bold.
When has a battle for humanity and liberty ever been won except by force?........ force held the broken line of Shiloh, climbed the flame-swept hill at Chattanooga, and stormed the clouds on the Lookout Heights; force marched with Sherman to the sea........
Does "stormed" mean "attacked"? Does "clouds" lietrally mean "clouds", or "a lot of enemy soldiers" figuratively? Where is the Lookout Heights? It seems there are many areas called by that name. I hope you will give me some historical information about the related fact.
Thank you.
This refers to First Battle of Chattanooga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. And you're right about the meaning of 'stormed'.
