Sorry, but I have been on a leave
"Sorry for my late reply, but I have been on a leave and just come back."
I have used this construction many times and just yesterday thought there might be something wrong with it. This use of "but" is what came to my mind as something that I maybe should worry about. Should I?
Thanks,
Nyggus

Your use of "but" is fine, but you do not need "a" in front of leave and do need "have" between and and just.
