Default visiting hometown is boring

Can i say visiting hometown is boring? For example,

I used think that visiting hometown is boring, so I tried to avoid vising my hometown. However, on the contary, visiting hometown was exciting because i watched traditional exhibitions and building. Also, I could feel the traditional atmosphere in my home town.
(If you see any problems, can I have your commetns??) Thanks in advance.!!!!!!!!!
