To make things clear, I can afford a brief addition.

1. to crunch = to process, usually in a time-consuming or complicated way. Connotes an essentially trivial operation that is nonetheless painful to perform.

2. to crunch = to squeeze program source into a minimum-size representation that will still compile or execute = to compress date

crunch - a critical moment or situation, especially one that occurs because of a shortage of time or resources.
