Hi. I am having a hard time trying to understand the meaning of an idiom.
The phrase is: "Teens experiment and make life up as they go."
Could someone help me?
Thank you,
Ingrid
To make <something> up as you go (along), means to improvise, or to create something without planning it beforehand.
For instance, you could make a story up as you go along, meaning you just start writing (or speaking) without an idea of how the story will end.
Your example is saying that teenagers don't make long-term plans; they live life without thinking about the future.
Thank you very much. :)
