Default capital letters

In an academic thesis would you write words like president, constitution, parliament in capital letters? I am not a native speaker so I don't know the rules for this. I would, however, write them in capital letters but then why would you not write a word like judiciary in capital letters? What are the rules?

If it's the name, use capitals:
The Houses of Parliament.

If one talks about a specific President or Constitution, it should be capitalized. We would not capitalize these words for general purposes.

The President held a news conference last night.
In a few months we will elect a president.

Each country should have a constitution.
Many of our rights are guaranteed by the Constitution.
