do not recall - has a polite ring to it
do not remember - to the point
did not register - do not use

I would love to see the reason why you suggested "do not use" on did not register.
There is a subtle difference between do not recall and do not remember.
do not recall - I try hard, but I can not remember
do not remember - simply states a fact of no memory of something.
do not register - I don't pay attention so I do not remember

Possibly because it might appear rude? If someone said that to me, I'd be surprised, but you'd have to admire their openness.
