Smile design faults

This model of car is being recalled by the company because of some design faults in the air bad.

Is "design faults" a set phrase? If not, what alternatives are there? "design flaws/weak ponits?"

Default Re: design faults

In the automotive industry, "design faults" means an error or a mistake; something that they should have tested/investigated further before installing it on the vehicle.

"Design flaw" would be an acceptable alternative; "weak point" doesn't quite convey the fact that this was a serious error (air bags are important safety features).
