Hi friends,

I dont know the difference between IT and THIS in the following sentences:

It is a waste of time AND
This is a waste of time

This is a waste of time. (This is a complete statement in itself. It refers to whatever the person is doing at the time it is said.)

It is a waste of time (This is incomplete as it is written. The reader wants to know "what" is the waste of time. )

It is a waste of time trying to convince my son that he should save money.

Now the sentence is complete.
