I suggest that you read through your essay, find all your sentence fragments and change them into sentences.

That is normal. I have many Czech and Slovak students and, while their understanding of grammar is very good, they do have more problems with vocabulary than Spanish, Italian, etc, students, where the vocabulary is much more similar. BTW, I am trying to learn Japanese at the moment and keeping a word for a month is an achievement because they are so different.
