"a hallway by the kitchen"
Hello,
Does the following sentence make sense?
A house has been described. We know there's a kitchen in that house. I'd like to provide some sense of identification for the word "hallway" in the following sentence:
"He walks down the hallway by the kitchen."

Yes, it makes sense. As written, it sounds as if the character is walking down a hallway that passes by the kitchen (but he doesn't necessarily enter the kitchen.)

A hallway is a corridor which links one room to another. Yes the sentence makes sense...it is not a small house.
