    would you please tell me if there are any differences between the sentences below :
    1- He was seriously injured as a result of the assaults.
    2-He injured seriously as a result of the assaults .
    3- He sustained serious injuries as a result of the assaults.

    Sentences 1 & 3 are good and mean the same.

    2-He injured John seriously as a result of the assaults .

    There is no difference in meaning.
