What is the name of the class and what is the name of the classroom called?
What if is metal instead of wood. Is it still the same name

Wood shop or metal shop, depending upon what material you're working with.

Possibly "carpentry workshop"/"carpentry room" and "metal workshop".

It was metal shop and wood shop back in the fifties and sixties when I was in school. Today, here in the land of high-falutin' euphemisms, they are called "Industrial Arts." Only dummies take "shop" classes.

We always called it 'the workshop'. I don't know what they call it now though - since the Department of Education and Skills has decided that the discipline is no longer "woodwork" but "Resistant Materials: Wood"
