In my opinion loss-seeking out means unsuccessfully trying to find out more than they are told or than they already know.

May it mean that the movie centers on the way some people keeps the searching of a feeling of loss for someone they admire, and enjoy it instead of rejecting this idea?

Quite ambiguous, by the way. Anyway, taking into account your answer could you say to me the whole paragraph with other more plain words.

There should be spaces on each side of the en-rule: "... loss - seeking it out...".
