ask for a word
Hi there,
When a man and woman start dating, they usually yield to each. But after they have become husband and wife, they no longer yield to each other.
Is the word 'yield' appropriate here? Can I use 'compromise' or other word?
Many thanks
pete

Re: ask for a word
"Yield" is an odd concept for this relationship - it implies dominance by one party over the other. I don't see a marriage lasting without mutual respect.
Considerate/consideration <> inconsiderate
Attentive <> neglectful
Respectful <> unfeeling/disobliging
