The attention span of a five year old is shorter than the attention span of the average adult. Most five year old children can stay on-task for about 20 to 30 minutes before they lose interest in what they are doing/studying/listening to.
An adult with the attention span of a five year old has difficulty focusing on a task for more than a short period of time.
