Talking use and usage

Hello all

How are you?
I need a complete definition about (use) and (usage).
I need to know the difference between them, because i want to teach it in one of my classes and i still have problem in using them .

Mathilde

Hi Matilde

'Usage' refers to a (written) record of examples of spoken or written English.

'Use' refers, not to examples, but to what is or might be said by native speakers in real life; not to examples of what people have said but to explanations of the way in which people use words.
