Many leaf peepers don't really understand the science behind the changes of leaves. But that doesn't prevent them from coming to see America's trees ablaze with color.
I presume America's trees ablaze with color is a figurative speech, but for the sake of curiosity, does it sound equally right and good to write trees burning/blazing with color? If not, what about trees covered with bright and brilliant colors?
Speaking of colors, it comes to mind why it's color in the above context as opposed to colors?
Thanks.
It does not sound as good though it means the same, and just saying "covered with bright and brilliant colours" is feeble in effect compared with "ablaze with colour".
The use of "colour" or " colours" in this context is entirely a matter of stylistic preference.
Thanks, Anglika, for your reply.
Got it.
