Students usually want to know the answer and I thought it would be nice if I could find it out. Thanks.

Our list of irregular verbs has just over six hundred and I haven't seen a bigger list, though there are probably some that we have missed. There will certainly be many more regular ones that irregular ones, but I have never seen an attempt to compile an exhaustive list of them.

I've done a bit of "Googling" on your behalf, and although I couldn't find out how many regular verbs there are ("Thousands" was the only quantity I could come up with) I did find out that there are 619 irregular verbs, some of which I understand to be obsolete. Hope this helps. I believe you can download the list of irregular verbs from this site. Jon

It's true that some are obsolete and others very obscure; the public list contains a couple of hundred of the more common ones. We were trying to build up as comprehensive a list as possible in the Members' Area.
