When you arrive at the airport, the airline will allow you to load a maximum of two pieces of luggage for free... you would need to pay for any additional luggage to be transported by the airline. (Luggage weighing more than 50 pounds per suitcase might also require a fee.)

You can... check (have the airline transport)... up to two pieces of luggage without charge. You 'check' your luggage when you 'check-in' at the airport.

Hi, Angliholic!

'load' is a verb meaning, in this case, to place inside the airplane. Passengers 'check' their luggage when they 'check-in' with the airline attendant at the gate. The attendant (or his baggage assistants) will then 'load' your suitcases onto the airplane and, yes, the airline will 'carry' your suitcases in the storage compartment. Hopefully, you and your suitcases will arrive at your destination at the same time!!!

'Check' means giving temporary custody of your suitcases to the airline so they can transport them to your destination.
