Smile in a mountain/mountainous area

Watch out for the falling rocks when you are in a mountain/mountainous area.

I suspect there are great differences between a mountain area and a mountainous area. Could you put them down in a few words so that I can verify my thought? Thanks.

"Mountain Area Realty is your leading source for real estate in the Wintergreen Mountain Villages, in the valley community of Stoney Creek at Wintergreen, and in Nelson County."
AND
"Farmers in Mountainous Area More Environmental Friendly"

If these sentences make no help, I suggest that you seach on the internet.

Yes - a mountain area is more specific than a mountainous area. The mountain area could be the Himalaya, the Rockies, the Alps...

Thanks, Anglika, for the helpful reply.
Just to make sure, we conjure up the specific/definite mountain when we use a mountain area. Whereas, a mountainous area does not.
