When Bill was very young, they had been in love.Many nights they had spent walking ,talking together.Then something not very important had come between them,and they didn't speak.Impulsively, she had married a man she thought she loved.Bill went away,bitter about women.

Question: Why did Mary and Bill not marry when they were young? What effet did this youthful breakup have on each of them?


Answer:They were unable to marry because somthing unpleasant but not very important occur between them , which they were unable to settle down.After breakup Mary married to another another man and Bill had not very good feelings for women.

Question: what does impulsively mean here?


Is this answer right and good?

They presumably had an argument and stopped talking, though the argument wasn't about anything important.

They were unable to marry because somthing unpleasant but not very important occured between them , after which they were unable to settle down.After the breakup Mary married another another man and Bill did not have very good feelings towards women.

If you do something 'impulsively' you act at the moment on feeling rather than through a plan.

He stopped.At first he did not recognize her, to him she looked so old.
"Mary! Where did you come from?"
Unconsciously, she lifted her face as though wanting a kiss, but he held out his hands.She took it.
"I live in New Yourk now," she said.
"Oh"__ smiling politely . Then a little frown came quickly between his eyes.

Question: Did Mary and Bill both experience similar emotions when they met after several years?


Answer: No, actually they don't experience similar emotions but both have some feelings.Mary looked more expressive than Bill.She had no control over herself.

Then what should be the answer?I am really very confuse.How to answer this question.These types of stories were not part of our course and not suitable for course book.This is a short story section of our new book.There is lots of Controversies going around about including these types of chapters in our course.I also have to write summary of this chapter. :(

Answer: No, actually they don't experience similar emotions but both have some feelings.Mary still have some soft feelings for Bill instead of their breakup whereas Bill was still bitter for their breakup.
How is that?

"When ..." she wanted to say, but the bus was ready to pull off. The lights on the avenue blurred,twinkled,blurred. And she was afraid to open her mouth as she entered the bus.Afraid it would be impossible to utter a word.

Question: what was the last thing that Mary wanted to say to the Bill which she was unabkble to express?What do you think she actually wanted to say ?

Answer:
She want to say "When will you visit us?" or "when did you get married?".

It also mean that Mary was still in love with Bill instead of all the misfortunate things happened whereas Bill was not the same old loving Bill.

Seeing him brought back nostalgia and emotions for her, but resentment for him.

It also mean that Mary was still in love with Bill instead of all the misfortunate things happened whereas Bill was not the same old loving Bill.

I would say that Mary was perhaps still in love with Bill despite what happened, while Bill could not forget what happened and was still bitter.

Also, you could say that something had come between them or came between them.
