Re: Upgrade An "upgrade" is something that is better than another version. "To upgrade" means to give/obtain the better thing.
If you are flying on an airplane in the regular section, you can "upgrade" to a seat in first class.
If you are flying with your co-worker and walk past him in first class as you head back to the regular area, he may smile and say "I got an upgrade."
If you are buying a computer, you may want to upgrade the amount of memory it comes with.
