Default correct usage for numbers

When you are using numbers in a sentence are they written out (20) or spelt out (twenty)?

Does the same rule apply to booklets?

Thank you.

Default Re: correct usage for numbers

This is a style question, not a grammar, question, so there is no one correct answer. A common convention is spell out numbers from one through ten, and write numbers higher than ten as numerals.

In charts, etc., you should always use numerals.

I'm not sure what you mean about booklets, though. Can you explain?

There's another rule to what Barb_D wrote - whether or not it is a numeral higher than ten, it's normally spelled out at the beginning of a sentence.
