Default come home/back to roost

Where does it come from?
It's not in word-detective...

Where a problemis ignored at an early stage in the hope it will go away comes back to haunt us, it comes home to roost.

Yes, I knew the meaning. Does it come from birds going back to their nest or something ?

For explaining the meaning instead of the origins of the expression I guess. No need to feel sorry! I should have included the definition, if only for the other readers (and maybe I had it wrong, for all I know).
Thanks for your help all!

It more or less means "as far as I know", with a slight difference in use if I'm correct. I could have said "come to that" instead.
