Which one of the following sentence is correct.
The first is maybe more usual, and the second could be used.
Either could be used. There is however a slight difference between them.
If we consider the following sentences
'Let's go by car.'
and
'Let's go in the car.'
The first example simply suggests that we use a particular mode of transport for our journey - it could be a car belonging to one of us or perhaps we would need to hire or borrow one for the purpose. In contrast, the second example suggests that the journey is made in a particular car - most likely that belonging to the speaker.
