Dear teachers,

Could you please help me check if the following has any errors?


September 7, 2007 marked a big day not only for Lee Hann Chong, but also for his friends and family, who were all at the Dewan to witness his convocation and to celebrate for him. Who would not be happy for him? The 34-year-old Pahangite already had a profession after all—if song-writing doesn’t count—and could move on with or without tertiary education. Yet already having an occupation as a primary school teacher was not an excuse for Lee not to keep learning.

The sentence I bolded is very awkward and needs a rewrite to become clearer. I am not going to do it for you since I believe you are competent enough to do it.
