I used to live OR I lived ??
Hi guys,
can I say:
"I am able to speak english because I USED TO LIVE in Dublin"
OR I have to say:
"I am able to speak english because I LIVED in Dublin"
Do exist any differents between these two verbs? How do they work?
Thanks a lots...

The second sentence is better because it doesn't have the unnecessary words "used to". Both sentences have the same meaning, including the information that you no longer live in Dublin.
In sentences with similar grammar, "used to" is a useless phrase.
But in a sentence like 'I am used to waking up at 5:00 a. m.', "used to" is necessary and has a diferent meaning than in the Dublin sentence.

Thanks 2006!
So those phrases are both correct but it's better to use the second one just because the first one has a useless verb (used to).
Thanks.
