B: I'm going to plant orchards on it.
The lline in bold sounds lame to me. I feel like rewording it as the following: I'm going to plant fruits on it. I'm going to make it into orchards.
Do I bring coals to New Castle? Thanks. |

It shall become bountiful orchards.
"Orchards," exclaimed the new owner, "Orchards my boy, it shall bring forth a superfluity of fruit!"

Wholeman | Thanks, Wholeman, for the beautiful and expressive wording.
I can assert that you're a master with words.
But does the origanal sentence sound right to you? |

Apple Orchards, Peach Orchards, Cherry Orchards, Orange Orchards, Avocado Orchards, all are at least a little more informative than simply Orchards.

Wholeman | Thanks, Wholeman, for your informative and entertaining versions.
You're genuinely good at words.
For what it's worth, are you a major of literature? |

I'd expect you said you are a writer.
I doubt whether a writer is equivalent to an Author. |

Authors are writers, but not all writers are authors.
Newspaper reporters are writers, but seldom are they authors.
I hope that explains the difference to you.

Wholeman | Thanks, Wholeman, for the subtle and tricky response.
As far as my knowledge goes, an author has one of the connotations, to wit, fathering a few books. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
