In the dialogue below, the word "as" is used to give the meaning of (as well
as) or (in addition to) or (also).

Is this usage correct or wrong?

John: Please send me an email when you receive my gift.

Scott: Absolutely, as I'll phone you once the gift received.

The "as" isn't the only problem with Scott's sentence, but it's the one you asked about. :wink:

The way "as" is used in that sentence makes no sense. Scott seems to be saying to John that he will phone him because of sending him an email. Instead, try:

• John: Please send me an email when you receive my gift.
  
  Scott: Absolutely! And I'll phone you also.
