Although it's freezing over here and definitely not the time to indulge in ice-cream, my students went for it hook line and sinker. In their written exam, they made up a dialogue in which a girl ,about to buy an ice-cream cornet from the ice-cream man ,(elementary) isn't sure as to what flavour she should get. Would she think "Which ice-cream? Which ice-cream?" or rather "What flavour should I get,...?" And can they have the man suggest "Strawberry?" or would you have him say, "Would you like some...?" Again, it would have to be current usage in B.E. because that's what I'm supposed to teach. Thanks in advance.

All of your suggestions are prefectly fine. As a native, I would say: What favour should I choose? and Strawberry? However, for teaching purposes, it might be better to encourage the use of full sentences, and instead of just Strawberry? encourage them to say I think I will have strawberry.

Thanks again for your help.I just wish I'd stumbled across this site sooner - this would have cut down my average of parent-teacher conferences per week. Last edited by beascarpetta; 01-Nov-2007 at 16:50.
