To or for?!?

Hi,
I still can't make up my mind about using TO or FOR.
You are very special TO me or FOR me?
What exactly is the difference?!?

1. For is used to express the relation between time/ place/ way/ circumstances and a person or people:

Today is a great/special day for me. It's my birthday.
The big house is/seems to be a prison for the old man. He feels alone/lonely.
This is a pleasant way for her. She always spends her afternoon in the cafe.
Things are hard for them.

2. with enough, too, good, bad, easy, difficult, suitable, fit, and right, we use for to express the (un)suitability:

The book is easy/difficult/ good/ bad for children of this age group.
The room is big enough/ too big for us.
The room is suitable/ the right one for us.
He is the right person for us/ for the job.
The water in this well is fit/ unfit for the villagers (to drink).

3. When we want to express how a relationship/an attitude is between two people,we use to:

He is kind/ nice/ good/ polite/ rude/ cruel/ friendly etc to Mary.
He is married/ engaged to Mary.

4. With important, necessary, essential, helpful, useful etc, we use to sb; for sth(here for is used to express the suitability)

Trees are important to farmers/ for the protection of crops.

Sometimes we use for to express the objectivity and to to express the subjectivity:

English is very important to us. = We think English is important.
English is very important for us (to master). = In reality English helps us a lot.

5. With some adjectives, we should use a fixed preposition:

The doctor is very patient with his patient. (here with has the meaning of @treating@)
If we say He is friendly to me, we are talking about his attitude toward me.
He is friendly with Alex= He is friends with Alex. This sentence shows they are friends.
