Default tall mountain

Which one is correct? Is tall only used for humans? And should mountain be plural or singular?

The highest mountain
The tallest mountain

Or, is there other ways to ask for the height of the mountain

Default Re: tall mountain

highest mountain is correct

you can also use 'high' for buildings

mountain can be both in singular and plural

-it's the highest mountain in the country
-it's one of the highest mountains in the country

High is applied chiefly to things which rise from a base or foundation or are placed at a conspicuous height above a lower level [a high hill; a high ceiling]

Tall applies to what grows or rises high by comparison with others of its kind [Tall tree; tall building; tall plant]
